Lest We Forget

I normally attend Remembrance Day services in Trenton, Ontario, where I live. Trenton is home Canada’s largest Air Force base, and is operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).  With so many military service members, veterans and families, Trenton’s Remembrance Day services are deeply moving, inspiring and humbling.

For the first time since I moved to Trenton I was unable to attend the service in person, as I was travelling to California to attend the ADHD 2024 Conference that begins on Thursday, Nov 14, and flying over the US midwest at 36 000 feet at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.  Throughout the day of travel, I saw countless people wearing poppies on their lapels, a reminder that our freedom to travel in safety was purchased dearly by sacrifice and is retained through commitment and perseverance.

As we move forward into a global environment of increasing uncertainty, my hope is that we not lose sight of the values which we hold dear, and treasure the freedoms that underpin who we are as a people.

To our military service members and veterans – Thank you for your service. Lest we forget.
